Canon EOS 60D Camera

The 60D has an 18-Megapixel APS-C sensor, a 3-inch articulated LCD, and HD video capture with manual exposure control and an external stereo mic connection with both manual and auto gain control. It shoots at 5 frames per second at ISOs up to 6,400 (usable to 3200). Auto-metering is also improved with a 63 zone system linked to the focus points.

It has a number of recording resolutions to choose from, and an HDMI output for one-cable connection to external monitors, etc. It can capture 1920×1080 Full HD video at frame rates of 24, 25, and 30 frames per second for up to 4GB per clip. Video footage is saved as MOV files and can be viewed in Full HD through the EOS 60D DSLR’s HDMI output.

Roger's Take

In construction and features, it’s a step up from the T4i but does not have some of the capabilities of the 7D (no autofocus microadjustment, no PC flash connector, and a fully plastic body). On the other hand, the 60D can control off-camera flashes from its built-in flash.

I’ll admit this first: I was entirely ready to not like this camera, largely because I’m a huge believer in the necessity of autofocus microadjustment. But after using it, I’m pretty much a convert. It’s certainly more comfortable in the hand and clearly has better autofocus, faster frames-per-second, and much greater battery life than the T4i. It’s also going to be a very reasonable camera to shoot video with, which is difficult with the T4i (the body is just too small).
