Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our specific product listings (if available), usually marked with a serial number. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.
The Canon EOS 1DX Camera
The Canon EOS 1DX is the flagship sport and action DSLR from Canon. It has an 18.1MP full-frame CMOS sensor and can shoot at a blazing 12fps with full AF (optional 14fps with mirror up shooting JPEG). The 61-point AF system is the most accurate to date, complete with its own menu tab full of advanced options. Standard ISO range of 100-51,200 and it boasts the lowest measured noise of any EOS camera made. The 100K-pixel RGB metering sensor ensures accurate color and and exposure for both video and stills.
On the video side, the 1DX records 1080p at 24/25/30fps, as well as 720p at 50/60fps. It has in-camera audio level adjustment, timecode embedding, expanded clip length of 30 minutes, and two compression methods (ALL-I and IPB) for optimum quality. The enlarged 3.2" 1,040K-dot TFT LCD makes image review and live-view recording greatly improved, while the 100% viewfinder with overlay allows for highly customizable viewing. The 1DX has two CF-slots, and while it comes with the higher capacity LP-E4N battery with the 1DX, it’s still backwards-compatible with previous LP-E4 batteries.
At 12 frames per second, it’s the fastest DSLR ever, taking the ‘spray and pray’ technique to a whole new level. You could take 642 shots of the bride’s bouquet floating through the air. It’s the most accurate autofocus system I’ve ever used, especially in poor light. It autofocuses at f/8. It has excellent high-iso performance with low noise.
As great as it is, I still wish it was a 1.3 crop. At 18 Mpix you aren’t going to want to crop the images and for a lot of people that means the high price of the camera will be accompanied by the high price of some longer lenses. That combination seems to be preventing a rush to buy this camera, but there also seems to be a slow steady migration to it.
