Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our Exposed! listings (if available), usually marked with a green badge. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.

The Leica M Typ 246 Camera
The Leica M Typ 246 Camera is a specialty M-mount camera that only shoots in black and white. Key features include:
What’s New. The Typ 246 is an update to the original Leica M Monochrom, with improved resolution and higher ISO performance. A new 24MP full-frame black-and-white CMOS sensor and MAESTRO processor provide extremely high image quality throughout the normal ISO range of 320-25,000. The live-view functionality first seen in the M 240 also makes it into the Typ 246.
Black and White. The omission of a color filter array from allows the Typ 246 to capture images in only luminance values, producing only black and white images. A byproduct of this is fantastic high ISO performance. It also foregoes the optical low-pass filter for maximum image sharpness.
Full HD Video. A new addition to the Monochrom line is video recording. There’s Full HD 1080p capture at either 24 or 30 fps, an on-board monaural mic for audio capture, and focus peaking for ensuring critical focus.
Rangefinder and Live-View Shooting. The Typ 246 features a large, bright-line, rangefinder-coupled viewfinder provides 0.68x-magnification with automatic parallax compensation and LED-illuminated frame lines. A viewfinder frame selector on the front of the camera allows manual changing of frame lines for visualizing varying focal lengths. The 3.0" 920k-dot rear LCD with sapphire cover glass allows live-view shooting with both focus peaking and 10x magnification.Classic Design. The black chrome-plated body features a magnesium-alloy chassis, brass top plate, and synthetic leather-wrapped grip give the Typ 246 a classic film-camera feel. The minimalist styling omits the famous “red dot” for a more discrete approach. There’s direct control for shutter speed and drive mode with the top plate dials, and a simple control layout on the camera back for menu navigation. It takes a rechargeable 1,800 mAh lithium-ion battery (one is included with this rental) and records images to SDHC/XC memory cards.
Apparently the original Monochrom did well enough for Leica that they decided to update it. You get the larger body found in the Top 240 and M-P, with the ability to use live view. It’s also capable of a slightly higher ISO than the original, which was already pretty high (and actually looked pretty good). It’s still black and white only, but if that’s all you’re shooting, this camera will not disappoint.
