Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our Exposed! listings (if available), usually marked with a green badge. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.

The Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S VR
The Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S VR is a low-cost, everyday zoom lens for both FX and DX cameras. The aperture range gives you plenty of speed for shooting in daylight conditions, while the built-in VR II stabilization allows you to handhold shots up to four stops lower (according to Nikon).By utilizing one ED and three aspherical elements, the 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 provides high image quality with minimum optical aberrations. A 7-blade rounded aperture provides smooth, blurred backgrounds, especially useful for portrait shooting. This is an internal focusing lens, which also allows for the 1.25' close-focusing distance. The lens features Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor, providing silent operation during both still and video shooting. When autofocus isn’t needed, the 24-85mm has an AF/MF switch for quick manual-focus adjustments.
I know what you’re thinking: Roger’s going to trash another $600 Nikon variable aperture zoom. Not so fast! In this case, I’m actually going to praise it a bit. First of all, this one will cover both an FX and a DX sensor. It’s also quite sharp in the center, so it makes nice portraits and street shots with centered subjects. And stopped down to f/8, it’s actually good in DX corners and adequate on an FX. Plus, the VR is good enough that you can stop down and still get sharp hand-held images. Given all that, along with a nice zoom range, it’s a pretty good choice for a walk-around lens and a big step up from a kit lens.
