Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our Exposed! listings (if available), usually marked with a green badge. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.

The Nikon 35mm f/1.4G AF-S
Another superb G-series prime lens, the 35 f/1.4 features a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus via a Rear Focusing (RF) system, nine curved aperture blades for smooth out-of-focus highlights, Nano-Crystal coating to minimize flare, and aspheric elements to reduce aberration.
Roger's Take
I like this one, a very nice lens for FX cameras. It's quite different from its wider sibling, the 24 f/1.4 G, in several ways that make it quite a different lens. Like the 24mm, it's quite sharp wide open in the center and stays sharp further towards the sides before fading at the edges and corners: very acceptable performance. It has less distortion in my evaluation, too, but then it probably should since it's not quite as wide as the 24mm. Focusing seems quicker too, which is a good thing: at 35mm it's a bit more important than at 24mm.
One thing worth noting is that it doesn’t get a lot sharper stopped down. At f/4 or f/5.6 it's a little bit sharper, but you have to look carefully to tell. But that’s okay, it's quite sharp wide open. The end result is a sharp lens you can shoot at f/1.4 without worries, that gives a great 3D look with the subject jumping out from a blurred background, and that you can shoot nearly in the dark. It also has very little aberration--the edges are pretty free of coma and distortion. I can recommend it without reservation.
If I didn’t wax poetic, it's for only two reasons: it's a pricey lens and ought to deliver this kind of performance at this price. And for DX users, the little cheap 35 f/1.8 is so good there’s not a lot of reason for you to march over to this one. I’d consider it for FX cameras only. And that starts the whole FX/DX debate in my head: I could by 35mm f/1.8s for all the kids for what one of these costs.
