The Sennheiser ew 100 ENG G3 Wireless Microphone Combo System - Range B

This particular wireless microphone device operates in portions of the 617-652 MHz or 663-698 MHz frequencies. Beginning in 2017, these frequencies are being transitioned by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the 600 MHz service to meet increasing demand for wireless broadband services. Users of this device must cease operating on these frequencies no later than July 13, 2020. In addition, users of this device may be required to cease operations earlier than that date if their operations could cause harmful interference to a 600 MHz service licensee's wireless operations on these frequencies. For more information, visit the FCC's wireless microphone website at www.fcc.gov/wireless-microphones-guide or call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC).

The Sennheiser G3 Wireless Mic Kit / Plug-on Transmitter – Freq B offers flexibility for a wide array of uses, and is great for situations in which using hard-wired mics might be problematic. It has great battery life, its receiver pack fits on a hot shoe and can output (with different cables) to XLR or 3.5mm, and it offers a huge multichannel frequency range (1,680 tunable frequencies with 12 frequency presets).

Plug-in Transmitter. This version of the kit includes an alternate transmitter for use with XLR microphones. You can only one transmitter at a time; you can’t use both simultaneously.

Power Supply. The Sennheiser G3 Wireless Mic Kit requires four AA batteries to operate—two for the transmitter and two for the receiver (batteries not included).

Frequency Range. This kit is the Frequency Range B version. If you don’t need a specific frequency, then it doesn’t matter which you choose. Frequency Range B is no better than Frequency Range A; however, if you’re using more than one kit at the same time, make sure they’re all in the same frequency range. A + A = Good, B + B = Good, A + B = Bad.

User Configuration. Because this kit’s ability to deliver good audio depends on getting clear reception, you must set up the wireless mics yourself on-site where you’ll be filming. The channels each transmitter/receiver operates on will vary depending on your location, so a good frequency in our office may not be a good frequency for your beach/church/army base/etc.
