Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our Exposed! listings (if available), usually marked with a green badge. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.

The Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 DT A-Mount Lens
The Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 is a fast-aperture, normal-range zoom for crop-sensor Sony Alpha cameras. It produces very high-quality images with great contrast and sharpness and features Sony’s SSM focusing motor for quick, silent autofocus. It’s equivalent to a 24-75mm in 35mm terms. This is a very popular length for general use and events. The fast f/2.8 aperture allows for low-light shooting and a shallow depth of field, which is ideal for portraiture.Sony utilized extra-low-dispersion glass and aspherical lenses to limit typical image-killers like ghosting, flare, and chromatic aberrations. For improved operation, the lens also features a zoom-lock switch, a focus-distance scale, and an AF/MF switch.
This is a great lens for pretty much any of the Sony A-mount DSLRs (not the full-frame a99). It really shines on the new translucent-mirror cameras such as the A65 and A77.
The autofocus is very fast and quite accurate. If you need a fast-aperture, normal-range zoom lens, you don’t need to look any further (unless you start talking Sony-Zeiss). You’ll get good corner sharpness at f/2.8 throughout the zoom range, with f/4 giving great corners. There is a bit of vignetting if shooting wide open at 50mm, but it gets better as you stop down. However, a word to the wise--at 16mm, you do have some distortion to deal with and a visible amount of spherochromatism in the corners. Basically, if you need a wide angle, you may want to look to a dedicated wide-angle lens rather than just using the 16mm end of this lens all the time.
