Why Stock Photos?
The short answer is that we use stock photos on some listings to save us time and to save you money. The longer answer is that we love to take photos of each and every lens, camera, and accessory, but doing so takes a lot of time and makes it difficult to get everything listed. So, we decided to compromise: take gorgeous photos of some things and charge a little more for them, and use stock photos for other items and charge a little less for those, all else equal.
The items listed here were tested thoroughly by our trained technicians. If they observed any significant flaws, you’ll see them detailed above. If the items listed here are exceptionally awesome, you’ll see that noted above too. Regardless, please remember this is a used item and it’s bound to have at least a microscopic imperfection.
If you're interested in purchasing an item with specific photos and ratings, we don’t blame you one bit. Please visit one of our Exposed! listings (if available), usually marked with a green badge. If none are currently available, by all means, contact us.

The Sony Alpha a7S II Camera
The Sony Alpha a7S II Camera is an ultra-sensitive, full-frame E-mount mirrorless video powerhouse and update to the Sony Alpha a7S. Key features include:
What’s New. Sony has essentially taken the groundbreaking a7S and added the best features found on the a7R II. Notable additions are five-axis image stabilization, internal 4K capture, and improved ISO and AF performance.
12.2MP Full-Frame Exmor Sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor. While it’s technically the same sensor, Sony tweaked the sensor and processor to milk even better ISO performance. The a7S II features a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-102400 (expandable to ISO 50-409600) with a new-generation RGB color filter array and gapless on-chip lens design for great color accuracy in all lighting conditions.
Internal 4K Recording w/ Full Pixel Readout. Much like the a7R II, the a7S II can record internal UHD 4k video at 24/25/30 fps @ 100Mbps in the XAVC S format. Nearly as impressive is Full HD 1080 capture that tops out at 120fps @ 100Mbps. Both of these are possible with full pixel readout that’s resampled rather than pixel binned. Internally recorded video is in 8-bit 4:2:0, while clean HDMI outputs uncompressed 4:2:2.
UHD 4K to external recorder. 4K recording is only available in Full-Frame mode. When utilizing 4K, the Super 35mm crop mode is disabled.
Advanced Video Features. The a7S II supports the S-Log3 gamma curve that extends dynamic range up to fourteen stops. To aid monitoring, Sony’s also implemented their proprietary version of LUTs they refer to as “Gamma Display Assist,” including broadcast-standard ITU709. Time code and zebra markers further assist workflow. The internal stereo mic captures audio in AAC/Linear-PCM format with a built-in headphone jack for on-board monitoring, while the external mic input allows the use of higher-quality recording.
5-Axis Image Stabilization. Like the a7 II and a7R II, built-in five-axis image stabilization is included, offering up to 4.5 stops of correction to any lens mounted. This includes angular shake (pitch and yaw), shift shake (X and Y axes), and rotational shake (roll). When using an E-mount lens that already features OSS, the two systems will work cooperatively for maximum stabilization.
E-mount. For the full-frame a7-series, Sony has taken their E-mount and created their line of FE lenses. These full-frame FE lenses utilize the same E-mount, but provide a larger image circle for covering the full-frame sensor. The existing APS-C E-mount lenses are compatible with the full-frame a7-series. However, you will have to shoot in crop-frame mode or accept any vignetting caused by the smaller image circle.
Improved Autofocus System. Expanded to 169 contrast-detection AF points, the a7S II’s system provides improved accuracy and performance over its predecessor. Thanks to the ultra-sensitive image sensor, it offers fast autofocus performance in as little as -4 EV sensitivity. There’s flexible spot, multipoint, center-weighted, and zone-focusing modes that give you lots of flexibility for autofocusing. For video and legacy-lens users, the manual focus peaking enables highly visible and accurate operation and can be optimized for full-frame or APS-C-format shooting modes.
High Res EVF & LCD. The built-in 2.4M-Dot OLED electronic viewfinder gives users a large live preview of what the sensor sees with 100% frame coverage. The tiltable 3.0" 1,229K-dot rear LCD can also be used for image composition and review when shooting at arm’s length.
High Build Quality. The durable magnesium-alloy body features dust and moisture sealing, and a robust all-metal lens mount minimizes any play. Greatly improved ergonomics include repositioned shutter release, dedicated dials, and plenty of customizable buttons depending on user preference. The Multi-Interface hot shoe allows an external flash to be connected, which is important because there’s not a built-in flash.Other Notable Features. The a7S II has both built-in Wi-Fi and NFC capability for connecting to smart devices, as well as an app store for adding features to the camera such as Sony’s Smart Remote. The ever-popular silent shutter mode returns, as well as the usual Auto/Art modes. It records its JPG, 14-bit RAW, and video files to SDHC/XC memory cards and uses the rechargeable NP-FW50 battery that’s rated for 370 shots per charge.
